My research began in the article: Rachel HILL COOK the Search.

In this post I show my continuation of research on Rachel HILL COOK by looking up the existing genealogies that she may be a part of.

Searching Ancestry first (since I pay for it).

Just searching Ancestry for Rachel Hill with a spouse of Thomas Cook (exact) I got 1 result.

gedcom 001-1 Public Member Tree Unsourced

Name:  Rachael Hill Marriage:  05 Mar 1852 (5 Mar 1852) Spouse:  Thomas Cook

No parental info or anything there. So I un-checked the exact boxes in the spouse name section.  Since both known census records say she was born in 1834-1835 I put 1835 +/- 1yr.  Both also say she was born in Ohio, so I put exact on that.  That gave me 100 public member tree results.

This obviously isn't mine but I put it here anyway just-in-case I come across these parents' names again.  Then I know who her claimed spouse is.  Plus she is from Clermont County, Ohio like my Rachael Hill.  I don't want to get her confused.

This one is a possible!  Same county of birth as her marriage too!  No sources :P

That's all that had parent info, besides duplicate info, and male names on Ancestry.  Going to check family search now.

No parents listed.  Taking Thomas Cook out of the equation.  Searching for Rachel Hill born in Ohio between 1834 and 1835.

That one is completely new.  Nothing else besides what I just pasted and male names.  Going to expand the birth years to 1830-1836 and see what comes up.  A bunch of people with spouses come up.  So I am going to omit birth data and check Rachel Hill, father William Hill, mother Polly to see what comes up.

The one ancestral file for that says she was born in North Carolina.  Looks questionable though because it says , , NC which is totally unusual for Family Search.

Now looking for Rachel Hill, father Simeon, mother Mary.

The one already pasted is the only pedigree resource file on that Rachel Hill.

Switching back over to ancestry to search member trees for those 2 couples that had a Rachel Hill to see if they associated any spouses to her.

No spouse for Rachel came up, also unknown death date.

• mother: Mary /Groves/

It appears this one died when she was two!  So she is not my Rachel Hill.

Next up…research the 1850 Census records in Ohio for my Rachel Hill and see if any of these or new families pop up.
